Climate: Subtropical
Strain Origin: Puerto Rico, near the town of Canovanas located on the Northeast side of the island.
Cap: 50-75 mm in diameter. Brown maturing to yellowish brown with small amount of remnants of universal veil present as small whitish spots.
Stem: 125+ mm in length. Yellowish to tan-white, mostly solid with only a small hollow central channel, bluing only slightly and belatedly with damage. Membranous partial veil which tears leaving some on the cap and stem.
Gills: Attachment adnate to adnexed. Grayish coloration in young fruit bodies becoming nearly black in maturity.
Spores: Dark purplish brown, subellipsoid on 4-spored basidia.
